The Nigeria High Commission is headed by a High Commissioner who is the official representative of the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria to The Republic of Trinidad and Tobago as well as other islands of concurrent accreditation. The High Commissioner is appointed by the President after securing the legislative approval in line with the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
.
The High Commission promotes and protects Nigeria’s nationals and foreign policy interest, particularly its foreign trade, investment and tourism interests throughout the Caribbean. In this regard, the High Commission is directly responsible to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Abuja and through it, to the
Government

The High Commission provides services on substantive immigration matters such as the issuance of Passports and restoration of citizenship. The High Commission also responds to general information inquiries about Nigeria or refers inquiries to the relevant Ministry or agency in Nigeria that can assist. The High Commission can assist Nigerian nationals in distress under specific guidelines.

The Chancery in Port of Spain offers Consular assistance to Nigerian Nationals in Trinidad & Tobago and in other countries of our concurrent accreditation.  We issue visas, accept applications for Nigerian passports. However, all Nigerian passports are not processed by us but by our Consulate General in New York, USA.  The Chancery in Port of Spain serves only as a clearing house for collation and onward transmission of the passport to the processing center.  For details on this and the new ECOWAS passports please click on the Consular page of this website

In addition to giving information on the Nigeria High Commission and its staff, also we seek to give general information on Nigeria based on all the frequently asked questions, such as the country‘s various peoples, geography, history, cultures and traditions, politics and economy, trade and investment opportunities in Nigeria.
